Jean grew up with the family in the house her father built on the road to Macnaquac. She no doubt went to the Keswick Ridge Superior School. She became a stenographer. She went to West Palm Beach, Florida, where her brother Frank resided. There she met and married Leland Guy Sharpe of Indiana. Leland was a commercial artist and sign maker. They had one child, Leland Guy Sharpe, Jr. (Although he went by Guy, they affectionately called him "Junie"). born March 15, 1929 in West Palm Beach, Fla. When he was about 15 or 16 years old they moved to Atlanta in search of work. Jean found work as a stenographer and Leland found work as a sign maker. Leland had very elegant cursive handwriting. Some of his work in gold leaf still remains on some of the older buildings in downtown Atlanta.
