Then he dared the Jordan and Cana
With Calvary in view,
Though he saw Chorazin Bethsaida
Capernaum false too.
For there gleamed like a star before him
A victory through pain;
And his light of Faith did ne'er grow dim
He died and rose again.
He was great before death but greater
He rose from out the grave,
For today he rideth forever
Ommipotent to save.
Have you heard the story of Jesus,
The man of Galilee,
He who came from Heaven to save us,
And died on Calvary?
For him kings and righteous men waited,
And waited long in vain,
And they died with their hope unsated
Yet counting Faith great gain.
When he came, the first born of MaryŚ
O thing of deep amaze!
Then did angels to shepherds carry
The word of love and praise.
His pure hands were hardened with labour
Through thirty long hard years,
But his eyes to friend and to neighbor
Were full of joy not tears.
